The coverage continues now almost a full week after the Calgary Roughnecks shipped their former captain Tracey Kelusky to the Buffalo Bandits for a first round pick in next year’s stacked entry draft. Kelusky telling the Peterborough Examiner, “Making the commute across the country can take a toll on a body especially if I’m planning on playing for another four years. That was a big part of the decision as well as financials.” Keluksy also tells the paper that although he hasn’t had time to give a ton of thought about next summer, still likely basking in the Peterborough Lakers’ Mann Cup win last month, he does say, “I’m optimistic most of the guys will be back and there is no reason why I wouldn’t be back.” The Lakers of course beat the New Westminster Salmonbellies 4-2 in this year’s Mann Cup series… Reebok, the National Lacrosse League’s official uniform outfitter, who also dresses many other pro leagues throughout North America, is down one less league, and it’s a big one. The NFL has dropped Reebok as their official thread dealer, turning to coincidently Seibald’s sponsor Nike instead. The loss could mean as much as $350 million lost in apparel sales. (Boston Herald)… A Canadian style of ball allowed the Robert Morris Colonials to have a bit of a breakout 2010, the team sporting high profile Canucks like Trevor Moore, Corbyn Tao (both available in next year’s NLL draft) and Kevin Brownell. “I saw Trevor Moore and Kevin Brownell suddenly running towards each other and they had a hidden exchange play. The whole defense bit on Kevin cradling empty handed and Trevor scored right past the goalie’s ear from about 20 yards out; the goalie never even saw it.” – Bear Davis (Inside Lacrosse)… Regular Insider contributor Jason Donville recently took on a monumental project, ranking and analyzing the absolute best male high school field lacrosse players in Canada, recent Minto Cup winner Wesley Berg ranked as the number one Senior in the country. Donville writes, “It’s been a big year for Wesley Berg with standout performances in the Minto Cup and at the Canadian U19 Field Lacrosse Championships. Berg is big, has great hands and is smart both around the net andin the classroom (89% average). Team BC Coach Neil Dinsdale believes that Berg is the best offensive high school player in Canada and othersshare Dinsdale’s conviction.” (Inside Lacrosse)
