NLL Entry Draft: Hello My Name Is… Randy Johnson

Like we’ve said for the past several weeks on Insider, while this year’s draft will likely have a heavy defensive flavour to it, don’t be surprised to see a good amount of goalies taken this year too, maybe even upwards of ten taken on the day.
While none probably rank as high as next year’s keeper of choice, Evan Kirk, a potential Top 5 pick in 2011 (recently ranked as one of next year’s top draft options), this year’s pool is still pretty impressive, Six Nations Arrows backstop Randy Johnson right at the top of the list.
Part of the Arrows’ trio of tenders, which also included Ben VanEvery and Joe Johnson, that won the 2007 Minto Cup, although Johnson played a secondary role with that edition of the Arrows, he kept himself busy winning the Founder’s Cup with the Six Nations Rebels that summer too.
After winning a second Junior B title in 2008, Johnson took over the high profile starting spot for the Arrows, one of the most consistent, money, relied on keepers in Ontario over the past two seasons, Six Nations making a strong and some would say unexpected run for the OLA title, falling short against the Orangeville Northmen.
