One thing’s for sure, the Philadelphia Wings are a changed team. And after going a franchise record low 5-11 last year, change was almost inevitable, better or worse. In comes newish Head Coach John Tucker, consultant turned GM Johnny Mouradian and a host of new high profile talent led by the likes of Ryan Boyle and Brenden Mundorf.

This weekend the franchise is holding a Town Hall meeting, basically an open forum for fans to talk to “new Wings coaches, GM, owners, and players,” about the upcoming season, Tucker already addressing fans in a letter published on the team’s official website earlier this week. After the jump check out what Tucker had to say.

From Philadelphia Wings

Dear Philadelphia Wings Fans:

I hope this finds everyone well – ready to wrap up a hot summer.

My goal is to keep you up to date on the thoughts and direction of the Wings as we move into the fall months so I hope you don’t mind these brief updates.

It is an exciting time to be attached to the Wings franchise. We feel strongly that our team is better today than it was just a few weeks ago. We have brought in some impressive talent to the floor – outstanding character in the locker room. It is always painful to part with a great player and terrific guy. Please understand a great deal of thought and discussion was involved in our planning for the future. Our staff is committed to turning this franchise around and we will not rest until the job is complete.

It is not lost upon us that setting aside winning – our style of play and effort are every bit as valuable to you, our fans. We will exhibit team toughness and provide a model of excellence. For us, it will be the…

“Perfect Wings Player” – first-class citizen, mentally tough, physically fit, unselfish, aggressive, a student of the game, puts team before self, articulate, role-model, compassionate, competitive.

This is a sincere effort to reflect the ideals of our organization and I ask for your patience and support as we forge ahead beyond our 25th season. It will be a total effort – fans, management, players, and staff to get this job done. Come out and help us celebrate the future.

Have a great August – hope to see you on the 29th at the Baggataway.  You can RSVP HERE.
