Best flow in the National Lacrosse League? It’s Sid Smith vs. Jeff Bigas

It's the deflownition of flow.
So we got a couple of emails last week regarding the matchup between Andrew McBride and Brian Langtry in our weekly National Lacrosse League flow poll. Seems that mug of McBride reminds some of Eddie, the monster of Iron Maiden fame and if ya ask us, that’s definitely a compliment. It was enough to carry McBride to a convincing first-round win, too, outpolling Langtry by a count of 2,038 to 460. So on he goes and his opponent in the second round is going to be the winner of a couple of East Division rivals, Sid Smith of the Rochester Knighthawks and Jeff Bigas of the Orlando Titans.

Sid Smith
When we talk of the flow each week, we do so with caution and pick our words carefully because the flow comes to us in so many different ways. It’s about respect, ya know? It’s not just long hair, it’s smooth long hair. Or wild long hair. It’s hair with a message, or hair with an attitude. So what’s the flow of Smith telling us? Deliberating the observation, Smith’s flow is sending a dual message. Up top, it’s smooth and in control, much like his defense. But down low, it flares out and kicks some ass, again, much like his defense. It’s kinda like a double-barrel shotgun, able to cover a lot of ground with a blast that’ll knock you down. Ya might say it’s lethal, kinda like Smith’s defense. Gotta be aware of which defense is going to rock you but either way, you’re gonna get rocked.

Jeff Bigas
In Orlando, Bigas doesn’t grab a lot of headlines with his play. The defender’s as solid as they come in the NLL and he quietly goes about his work for one of the top units in the NLL. And even as strong as the Titans defense is, we all know it’s the star power of Casey Powell on offense that gets the attention for the Titans, and rightly so. Still, it’s not wise to overlook the Orlando defense because it’ll stop you cold and the flow of Bigas can do the same. Kinda like a sucker punch, ya know? You’re not looking, not paying attention and the next thing ya know, you and your game are on the floor wondering just what hit you as the Orlando Titans notch another win from their perch atop the East Division. The lesson here? Never turn your back on the flow.
