NLLInsider.com Girl of the Week: It’s Meghan of the Washington Stealth

In our second NLLInsider.com Girl of the Week, we have Meghan from the Washington Stealth Bombshells. Is this the best Girl of the Week ever? It could be, but its too early in the season to jump our guns. Meghan is an avid dancer and student; she’s just getting into the NLL action, but already has a favorite player. She loves the physical nature of the sport and enjoys seeing the guys lay it all out there, especially the fighting. She gave Insider a peek into her life and lets you know which pick-up approach to avoid.

Insider: How did you get into dancing?
Meghan: My mom was actually the one who got me into dancing. I used to be a hard-core gymnast until we moved. Once moved, I had a hard time adapting to new coaches and gyms. My mom introduced me to a small dance studio near our house because dance was one of the sports that closely resembles gymnastics. She signed me up for some classes, and at first, I hated it! My mom makes all her kids do some kind of sport though; so I kept with it and developed a strong passion for dance. Thanks mom! :)

Insider: Are you in school? What are you studying?
Meghan: I’m a full time college student right now at Bellevue College! I’m just taking basic classes as of now, since this is my freshman year; however, I’m planning on majoring in either communications or dance. I change my mind frequently though, so who knows!

Insider: Would you agree that dancing is a unique form of communication?
Meghan: I would definitely agree! For me, dancing is the art of communicating emotions through inimitable and beautiful style and technique. Every dancer communicates different emotions behind a piece, whether it’s sad, happy, or energetic like I try and portray as a Bombshell. That’s what makes dance so wonderful:)

Insider: What do you like about the NLL?
Meghan: I’m fairly new to the NLL, however from what I know so far I love the passion and fight that our players put into their games! The fact that so many fights and injuries occur shows their aggressive passion for the sport. Also, the fact that the Washington Stealth score so many goals keeps the game interesting ;)

Insider: How did the Stealth manage to steal you?
Meghan: One of my previous dance instructors at my old studio used to be a Sonics dancer and has great connections with Sheena, our coach! She told me about the audition, and I said absolutely! I never let opportunities pass me up.

Insider: Who’s your favorite player in the NLL?
Meghan: Paul Rabil. :)

Insider: What do you like about Rabil? Is it his hair? Because he does have some freaking outstanding flow.
Meghan: Haha:) This makes me laugh. The first game my mom came to, she spotted Rabil and his “flowing mane” on the field instantly.

Insider: What else are you into off the field?
Meghan: I love to teach dance whenever I get the chance, even if it’s volunteer. I enjoy watching kids and teens build self-confidence and develop a passion for dance as I did. Other side hobbies I enjoy are hanging out with my family and just being a dork, laughing with friends, watching movies, eating, and going on sunny, outdoor adventures!

Insider: How does a guy get you to notice him?
Meghan: Haha…I would say being intelligent, a strong Christian, and having a unique, trendy style.

Insider: Worst pick-up line ever you’ve ever heard?
Meghan: LOL! The worst pick-up line ever…I would say you had to be there. But, I was laying by the lake with my friend, and this guy and his friend came over to “say hi.” Instead, he began to ask me if I’d “seen his beach ball anywhere” while flexing his arms to gesture out a beach ball. He proceeded to point in every direction, somehow managing to make each point a flexing pose, asking me if it was “over there” or “over there?” HOW clever… ;)

Insider: Was it ironic that such a meat-monster would be looking for a volleyball and not the really really really heavy weights?
Meghan: Ironic? Yes. Surprising? No. Haha but I know if you’re going to use a pick-up line, at least use it fittingly! Honestly, this guy didn’t have a clue. It didn’t shock me he selected a beach ball for his victim though, regardless of his stature…Am I being too harsh?

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
To fly! How amazing would that be…

Insider: If you could fly, where would you fly first?
Meghan: Hmm…home! Just kidding. I do enjoy being home though. My first stop would have to be somewhere warm and tropical…a sandy, white beach preferably. Get me out of this rain!

Insider: Favorite food?
Meghan: Chocolate. It’s a food group in my kitchen.

Insider: What’s your favorite form of chocolate (candy bar, cake, etc)?
Meghan: Dark chocolate! Yum. I’m eating some right now LOL. Toblerone chocolate bars never cease to amaze me though:)

Insider: Favorite book?
Meghan: The book to all happiness -the Bible! The Twilight Saga comes in close second though ;)

Insider: Favorite movie?
Meghan: I love movies so I have a massive list of favorites. The most recent favorite movies I’ve seen though are New Moon, My Sister’s Keeper, and Avatar!

Insider: From your favorite movies and books, it seems like you’re into the recent vampire trend. What got you hooked?
Meghan: I actually read my first Twilight book with my mom in tenth grade before the series was even popular! I had a book assignment (yay!) where I had to read a book with a parent. I was on Google searching for “good teen books for girls” (hah!) when I randomly came across Twilight. Normally I’m not a huge sci-fi/vampire kind of girl, but something about the summary of the book drew me in. Anyways, I like to say I started the trend;)

Insider: Dream vacation?
Meghan: Mmm…My own private beach house in Fiji overlooking the ocean, complete with a hammock, boat, and jet skis!

Insider: Dream date?
Meghan: My dream date would be anything with my dream guy.
