NLL Entry Draft: Hello My Name Is… Marc Nano

Edmonton Eclipse keeper Marc Nano
Marc Nano was one of this summer’s biggest money keepers in the junior leagues, his play crucial down the stretch in the Edmonton Eclipse’s war of an Alberta final against the Calgary Raiders.
He’s also one of a small handful of legit ‘88 goalkeepers lookin’ to make the jump to the big leagues at next week’s National Lacrosse League Entry Draft, upping his stock this past season and making it pretty tough on a team not to give him some love when they step up to the podium.
Known for his knowledge of the science between the pipes and studying the opposition’s shooters and their tendencies, Nano definitely turned heads and ropped jaws in ‘09.

What do you feel your greatest asset is that would allow you to translate your game to the NLL?
I think my greatest asset that is transferable to the NLL would be my quickness in the crease. As I stand just a touch under six feet I have to be more than an angles goaltender. I rely on my agility and reflexes to stop shots and I think this will be a great fit with the bigger nets in the NLL.
One (or a couple) word(s) to describe your game?
Smart, agile and focused.
Note: NLL Insider would like to add a ‘word’ too… consistent.
What current or former NLLer would you most closely compare or model your game after?
Growing up just outside of Toronto gave me the opportunity to watch the Toronto Rock as a kid. Toronto’s goaltender Bob Watson is someone I try to model my game after. Watson plays an athletic style and has become the backbone of a team that has won numerous NLL titles. His approach to the game and style is definitely something I try to incorporate into my game.
Your greatest accomplishment (team or individual) during your college, junior or even senior lacrosse career?
Winning the ‘09 RMLL Jr. A championship with the Eclipse and being named an ‘08 CUFLA All-Canadian.
Anything else to add?
I currently play field lacrosse at the University of Western Ontario. Lacrosse is a passion of mine and I would welcome the opportunity to play anywhere in the league.
