NLL Entry Draft: Hello My Name Is… PT Ricci

Loyola long stick middie PT Ricci (Todd Love)
After attempting to check in with some of the more high profile, box ready American NCAA studs, it’s a pretty safe bet that this year’s Entry Draft won’t be smashing any US based records like guys did in ‘08 when Paul Rabil, Kevin Huntley, Matt Danowski, Kevin Buchanan and Joe Cinosky all went in the first round a year ago.
In fact, Colgate’s Brandon Corp, an attacker a number of NLL GM’s told NLL Insider they’d have ranked even ahead of Cornell’s Max Seibald, told NLL Insider earlier this summer that he’s happy just playing field ball, and has no intention of making the transition to the NLL.
One ball player that is super amped about the NLL? Loyola’s gritty long stick middie and defender, PT Ricci.
Ricci, currently suiting up for the MLL’s Washington Bayhawks after a stellar career at Loyola College, brings speed, aggressiveness, monster loose balls skills and numbers, and most importantly, an attitude and sincere interest in the indoor game.
PT Ricci

What do you feel your greatest asset is that would allow you to translate your game to the NLL?
I believe my greatest asset that would translate from field to the box game would be loose balls. That is always something I have prided myself on throughout my career.
One (or a couple) word(s) to describe your game?
Fast. I always want to be going at 100%. Speed has always been the biggest trait that I have brought to the field.
What role/position do you see yourself playing in the NLL?
I see myself playing defense or being a transition guy, getting the ball off the ground and into the offensive end.
What current or former NLLer would you most closely compare or model your game after?
I haven’t seen much box lacrosse but I would say Kyle Sweeney. He’s a great cover guy and awesome on loose balls and starting transition.
Your greatest accomplishment (team or individual) during your college career?
I think my greatest accomplishment has been turning Loyola’s program around from the time my class went in and to the time we graduated. My accomplishment that I am most proud of is winning LaxPower’s best senior defenseman award this past year. Voting for All-Americans and other awards are always so political, so I think this is one of the last pure awards out there. It was really nice to know the fans appreciated my game.
Anything else to add?
As of right now, I’m currently looking for a job, hopefully in the coaching world, but that leaves me able to play in any city. I would like to stay close to home but I’m up for any city really.
