NLL Entry Draft: Hello My Name Is… Sean Reid

Edmonton Eclipse forward Sean Reid
Last night, with the Calgary Raiders up 2-1 in the RMLL Jr. A final, the Edmonton Ecilpse’s Sean Reid posted one of this summer’s most impressive and explosive O post-season performances, assisting on seven Edmonton goals, potting two himself, and pulling the Eclipse even with the Raiders in a dominating 15-6 win.
Alberta, often over looked and still looked down on by lax snobs throughout the country, has been producing some top level junior talent over the last few years, showcased in Alberta’s super competitive Jr. A loop, which looks primed to have maybe their most successful Minto Cup ever in a couple of weeks.
One player that fits the bill above is most definitely the Eclipse’s Reid, who finished second in regular season scoring this past season and also landed an honorable mention in NLL Insider’s JOTY finalists.
Reid, in his final season of junior level ball, is available in this year’s NLL Entry draft and after a solid summer, which hasn’t finished yet, he has no doubt turned scout’s heads leading into next month’s draft.
SEAN REID
Height: 6′3″
Weight: 190 lbs.
Position: Forward
Shoots: Right
From: Edmonton, Alberta
Junior: Edmonton Eclipse
What do you feel your greatest asset is that would allow you to translate your game to the NLL?
My ability to read the floor and anticipate the play. I work hard to free up my teammates and take pride in feeding the ball. I’m a goal scorers best friend.
One (or a couple) word(s) to describe your game?
Smart, gritty, unselfish.
What role/position do you see yourself playing in the NLL?
I would take on any role the team needed me to fill. But, I see myself as being an offensive player that would make my teammates more dangerous. I would be a scoring threat myself, but more importantly create quality opportunities for others.
What current or former NLLer would you most closely compare or model your game after?
Josh Sanderson or Blaine Manning
Your greatest accomplishment (team or individual) during your college, junior or even senior lacrosse career?
Winning the Alberta Jr B title and making it to the championship game in the 2004 Founders Cup.
Anything else to add?
I would be willing to play anywhere I was given the opportunity. Lacrosse is my passion and I would do anything it took to sacrifice for my team. I am committed to getting better and doing whatever it takes to play at the next level.
