National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week: It’s Marie from Philadelphia

So the Philadelphia Wings aren’t a dancer in the National Lacrosse League playoffs, but that doesn’t mean the season is over. Is it ever over for this Girls of the Week thang? Didn’t think so. That’s why we’re bringing you Marie, a rookie dancer for the Philadelphia Angels as the latest National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week. At just 19, she’s been dancing for 16 or 17 years, which pretty much means all her life. So you just know she loves what she does and she’s got plenty of heart and spirit for her favorite NLL team. Which dancer doesn’t?

Marie is a student at Philadelphia’s University of the Arts and if you know anything about South Broad St. in Philly, you know that’s a busy place. Can you still catch the orange line up and down that fine passage?

It’s been a while since yours truly was a student at Temple U and used to take that express line to catch Phillies, Sixers and Flyers games. But, we digress. The topic at hand here is Marie, not transportation. Then again, Marie was a big part of getting those fine Philly crowds moving as she helped cheer on the Wings this season. And while it may be her first year with the Angels, she’s thrilled with the thrills. “I love dancing with the Wings,” she tells NLL.com. “The best part is that I feel like I am a mentor to children. I believe that if they see me accomplishing what I do, than they will know they can accomplish anything, too.”

Upon graduation, she hopes to to start a career at the Koresh Dance School in Philly. She already takes classes there and is convinced that’s where she wants to be full time, in part because of the work with students. The other part is that it’ll probably mean she wouldn’t have to work as a caterer with Rita’s Water Ice anymore. Not that she doesn’t like that gig, but if you’re a dancer, you wanna dance for a living, right? Makes sense here.

So there you have Marie, the final NLL Girl of the Week as it stands for our Girl of the Week contest. Speaking of which, stay tuned for the next matchup of that contest, which will pop up by the end of this week and take all of your voting skills into consideration.
