NLL Insider Top 50: Andy Secore #24

No one’s pro stock went as through the roof as much as Andy Secore’s did last winter.
The Arizona Sting rental player added another element to the Minnesota Swarm’s offense and took the NLL by storm with 76 points in just 14 starts, nailing down the larget rookie-to-sophomore points per game increase in league history, tying Ben Prepchuk’s 54 total point climb too.
The only former Sting player that went ahead of Secore in last summer’s Sting Dispersal Part II, was Dan Dawson, taken ahead of the likes of Scott Self, Lindsay Plunkett and Craig Conn.
Secore was just as deadly this past summer, scoring 48 points in only 11 games for the Coquitlam Adanacs, giving him a ridiculous 136 points in just 38 games for the Adanacs since making the move out west three summers ago.
Secore’s ability to up everyone’s game on the rug and lightning quick decision making ability had him owning one of the more impressive shooting percentages (.193), when looking at the pure O guys in the league last year.
In fact, Secore was one of only three players to not only lead his team in scoring, which he did handedly with two fewer games than most, but also led a team’s top five scorers in shooting percentage too. The other two? Jeff Zywicki and Mike Hominuck.
As reported in the Edmonton Sun the other week, Secore has been recently placed on the team’s unable to perform list after having more work done on his often ailing knee during the off-season, but GM and Head Coach Bob Hamley says he’ll be good-to-go for opening night.
If he’s anywhere as good as last season, the Rush could have their first ever top ten scorer in the NLL… if not more.
